Ballet Studio E requires that students wear a specific brand, style and color of leotard to each class. Please read the following information carefully, as students not following dress code will not be allowed to participate!! If you have questions or concerns please contact the studio as soon as possible.

Why is it important to wear uniforms?

Self-discipline and respect are a part of dance training, and how students dress is  important as it sets the tone for a good dance class.  It also shows respect for the art that they are learning, respect for themselves and respect for their teacher. A specific uniform can also help children to learn faster, as the instructor can make better corrections when all students are dressed alike, as their attention is drawn to a student's technique, not a student's hair or leotard choice.

There are specific reasons why certain elements of attire are required: tights enable the musculature of the legs to be clearly visible, the leotard allows the instructor to easily check the carriage of the torso and alignment of the hips and spine.   Hair pulled back off of the face and neck allows the teacher to clearly see the alignment of the neck and carriage of the head. Proper dance shoes allow greater safety and stability for the student.

General  Attire Notes:

No jewelry (aside from stud earrings) is allowed. Jewelry is a distraction and a safety issue.

Pre-Ballet students must hair their hair pulled off of the face and neck either in a bun, or two pinned up braids.

Ballet students hair must be in a very secure bun.

All other students should have their hair pulled back and secured (no headbands, they tend to fall off)

Purchase more than one pair of tights. While holes can be sewn, it is often faster to have a new pair on hand. Dance tights are specially made and are somewhere between nylons and knitted dress tights in durability.

No skirts are allowed from Pre-Ballet levels and up. The same is true for leg warmers and other body coverings.

The same leotard style/color and tight color has already been selected for each class level.  For uniformity, please purchase only these styles and colors.
