Dance Program
We(e) Wiggle (18 months - 3
yrs): A
movement and dance class geared for learners at or near two years of
age. Class includes movement activities, stretching, songs, games and
mat work. Parents participate with their child.
We(e) Dance (ages 3-5):
A class for young movers and shakers ages 3-5. Class
includes lessons based on jazz, ballet, tap and creative improvisation.
Basic tumbling activities are also included.
Jazz/Tap Classes (ages 9-12):
An introduction to fundamental jazz and tap steps and styles of dance.
Students practice rhythm, musicality, improvisation, and choreography.
Students learn basic isolation, movement sequences and patterns typical
of current trends and traditional jazz and tap.
Folk Dance (ages 6-12): A
percussive dance class based upon traditional dances of Europe- the
‘dances of the people’. While not a strict single focus class, students
will learn elements of many different cultural dances from Irish dancing
to Flamenco. Many types of folk dancing were influences upon the dance
of royalty- ballet. Students will learn dance steps, as well as the
essence and importance of folk dancing, and various formations in this
engaging class.
Cardio Ballet (Adult Class):
This popular Hollywood exercise phenomenon combines the grace and
long lines of ballet with a full body cardio workout! Sculpt and tone
your body using the best aspects of a ballet class and a cardio class
combined. Develop long lean muscles while you gain strength in your back
and abdominals and get your heart rate going at the same time. Classes
use contemporary music in this fast paced, fun class. No dance
experience required! Students must bring a water bottle, light hand
weights, wear socks or ballet slippers and form fitting clothing- no
clothing hanging below the knee, please. 1st session: Sept.
4th-November 20th. Cost $180. Minimum enrollment 8 students.
