Enrollment Audition
Ages 6 and up*
*Students who are six years, but
will be turning seven by Sept. 1st.
General Information: Parents who
are interested in enrolling their child in Ballet Studio E's Ballet
Program should carefully review
information on studio classes, ballet program, dress code, policies and
tuition. New students interested in enrolling in
Pre-Ballet IIB and Ballet level I and up must schedule a placement
audition. At the time of audition parents must bring completed
registration forms and the $20 audition fee to their child’s audition.
Please be aware that auditioning does not
guarantee enrollment. If the child possesses good physical
characteristics and has a desire to dance and willingness to learn, they
most likely will be accepted. However, a child with exceptional physical
characteristics and a poor attitude may not be accepted. Not all students who audition can or will be accepted. However
all parents should arrive prepared to register their child should they
be accepted. Registration payment on that day will be accepted in check
form only.
Audition Information:
All
children auditioning will be assessed for suitability for classical
ballet training; however, previous dance training is not required or
expected. Students are assessed for physical attributes beneficial
to the study of classical ballet such as the musculature of the foot,
and flexibility of the ankle and hip sockets, to name a few. As Ballet
Studio E trains students to professional standards whether a student
wishes to pursue dance as a career or is merely taking class for the
enjoyment of it, certain physical limitations may make the study of
ballet either painful or dangerous for some. The purpose of the audition
is to determine if the child has the physical capacity and attitude to
study ballet happily and safely. Parents should be prepared to wait, and as space will be limited,
we ask that only one parent accompany the auditioning child, and no
other family members.
Attire: Students are
expected to arrive dressed for their audition, as changing rooms may not
be available. Students are to wear a plain leotard (no
skirt) or swim-suit. No tights, no socks or other foot coverings.
